| A few pics (some blurry) of the event : Wyrd BoothConventionMinisThings went rather well for Wyrd (lots of positive feedback and interesting contacts were made) and the quality of the minis there were breath taking! Imagine a convention where a rating of 8 on CMON would be the "worst" paint job seen there. | |

LOL . Honnestly you'll have to come one year. There are painters like those that work at Andrea and Pegaso . When the club has the official pics up, I'll link to the gallery .

| Yeah, that would be fun!
Is the fantasy competition separate from the historicals or is it just one big competition?

| It's the same principle as all the Opens : every type of mini is mixed. You present a selection of minis, thats what is judged, not individual minis. So you have to choose enough of minis that have a homogenous level. The only "categories" are the levels and if there are conversions (understand almost full sculpts, not just a weapon's switch) : beginner, rising star, confimed (my cat), master. | |

| Do you get placed in a category by the judges, or do you enter a specific category?
And, since this is mainly a show for historicals, is it a disadvantage not having any historicals in your set of minis?

| You plae yourself, but you can ask around what you minis are "worth". I didn't have any historicals, Allan neither, and others neither. So honnestly I think they'e openminded enough to judge fairly. For the Open of Paris, there are mostly fantasy and sci-fi minis . | |

| So, how do Jérémie and Allan measure up against the masters of historical painters? What did they bring? | |

| You know that orc buste I'm working on? I was about to bring it for kicks; well luckily I didn't. A mexicain who lives in France and who sculpted the beastman buste a while ago for GD FR (http://www.coolminiornot.com/browse/submitter/ZETORK) brought his orc buste ... Lord it was a marvel! I think you and Sven should do well in Opens. You both have the technic and color tones that usually please the historical judges . | |

| Damn! That really looks impressive! I can see what you mean... though your orc buste looks really good seeing it next to this one would take the fun out of it, I guess! | |

| Exactly my thought . I was so happy having not brought it, would have been so embarassing . Other than that, we were next to the Pegaso booth, so seeing their studio painted minis up close was cool . Also, like I told Nathan, expect to see Wyrd minis painted by people like Jérémie, Jérôme (executerdehod), Frédéric (Minos), ... soon . | |

Nathan mentioned something about some well-known people picking up Wyrd minis and I was curious who they were! BTW, did Nathan tell you he got an order of Wyrd minis to Keith Robertson to be delivered to GW Design Studio in Nottingham? Well, I'm going to start up some more ambitious projects ASAP! Today I finally got hold of some Still Water from Vallejo (my hobby store finally had them re-stocked) so I'm going to try that out soon!

| Well, first I need to get the Wyrd minis done... and they will be fairly quick jobs as Nathan wants painted products ASAP (and he doesn't pay me enough for anything special... ), but then I will start doing a few more elaborate pieces! One for Sebastian, that I was to have done quite a while ago so I will put in a bit of extra effort on that to compensate for the waiting. But then I'll do some prospects for the Paris show... I don't have anything decided yet, but I will do some more elaborate presentations and, of course, go the extra mile on the painting as well. | |

| Thanks so much for the photos! Nice images especially on the second link.. shows Jeremies mistakes! He must love that Galadriel sculpt! Maybe he displays so many of them because he have it as a demo miniature in his painting-course. | |

That's not the original golden demon winning one though. The original one is flawless .

| I went to the GW store here to buy that Galadriel mini yesterday and actually had a very pleasant experience in a GW store for once. I was approached by a British guy working in the store and he asked me if I was searching for anything in particular. I described which Galadriel mini I was after and he explained that it was mail order only now. So, he wrote an order for me and called up whatever place they order from, but got no answer. Thus he couldn't tell me the exact price I was supposed to pay so he lowered the price a bit from what he had calculated it to be (only about 1 euro, but I really appreciated that gesture). So, now hopefully it'll be in the store for me to pick up next Thursday. | |
